Hey, you can achieve everything you’ve ever wanted in your life.
But what you want to understand is that your greatest asset, and your greatest liability, when it comes to setting goals, is time.
I was talking to Jennifer about this, and maybe you’ve thought about this before as well. People will say, “But your goals have to be attainable, right?”
And the thing that makes a goal attainable is not the enormity of the goal. Every now and then, someone will pull out a goal that looks utterly unrealistic. But even then, there’s always a way of finding your path to it.
The most important thing is time. Do you give yourself enough time? Just enough time to reach that goal?
If it’s too short of a timeframe, then it’s just brutal and mean to try and achieve it.
If I decided that I wanted to become the world’s biggest bodybuilder in one week… it’s not the fact that I want to become the world’s biggest bodybuilder that’s unrealistic, it’s that I want to do it in a week.
If instead you said, “I want to become one of the world’s best bodybuilders in five years,” hey, let’s create a plan, create a program, and go after it.
Time is your greatest asset.
But it’s also your greatest liability.
Because you only have so much of it. And every day, every week, every month, every year that you spend not chasing your goals? That’s a wasted opportunity.
Your life is so precious. It’s such a gift to be able to live and breathe and explore and love, to connect, achieve, build, create, and do amazing things.
No matter your current situation, being alive is a great gift. Even being able to taste some food, breathe fresh air, feel a hand on your hand, or write a poem that expresses how you feel, good or bad, is an incredible gift.
Any moment spent not living is a wasted moment. Any moment spent stuck in the drudgery or just trying to get by is a wasted moment.
And for the longest time, the reason I didn’t chase some of my goals was that I had young children or I didn’t have enough time. But that was all bullshit.
It was lies.
And just because you believe a lie doesn’t mean it’s true.
In fact, a lie that’s believed is worse than a lie that isn’t, because a believed lie has power.
What I’ve discovered is this:
The very best thing you can do for those closest to you, the very best thing you can do for a world in chaos, the very best thing you can do is pursue your goals and the life you want with 100% determination, joy, and life.
Because when you do, others around you are inspired. Others grab hold of that joy. Others grab hold of that determination. And suddenly, you’re creating a world full of people around you who are also going after their goals.
That’s the power of 3-Word Goals.
This system we’ve set up keeps you connected to your goals in a way you cannot forget. And the reason most people fail at their goals isn’t a lack of motivation or determination, and it’s not because the goal is unattainable.
It’s because they lack clarity.
They’re not absolutely sure what their goal is. They’re not absolutely sure of the steps they need to take. And when there’s an absence of clarity, we get distracted.
So here’s what we do with 3-Word Goals:
We create them across six or seven dimensions — physical body, financial life, reputation, relationships, fun, creativity, and business.
And yes, sometimes those goals compete. That’s why people say, “I don’t have time.”
But that’s not the truth. They just don’t realize how to integrate their goals.
For me, one goal is to be a Fully Alive Dad.
Another goal is to be the Fittest I’ve Ever Been at 50.
How do I marry those two? When my kids need me, but my body must work out?
I communicate. I set clear boundaries. I tell them, “This is what Dad’s doing now, and here’s why.”
That’s the beautiful tension — the competition between goals. That’s where we get to choose and design our day based on the life we want to build.
When you have clarity, and when you have flexibility, you can live this way. You can move pieces around. You can still fight for your right to live the biggest and best life.
And you’re not fighting other people. You’re fighting your own choices, your own bad thoughts, your own disillusionment.
That’s the power of what we’ve created.
I’ll be honest: the AI helps. It makes it simpler.
But you can do it without the AI, too.
I am clearer, more certain, and more sure about my future than I’ve ever been in my life. And it’s all down to 3-Word Goals.
And guess what? Every day I use the system, I get clearer. I get more certain. I get more sure.
And I get closer to being the human being Geoff was designed to be.
And I want you to get closer to being the human being you were designed to be.
Full of life.
Full of joy.
Full of laughter.
Full of kindness.
Nothing in the outside world has the right to stop you from being you — and from going after the life that you want.
That’s my encouragement today.
If this makes sense, type Makes Sense.
If this is interesting to you, type Interesting.
And if you’re ready to build your goals with me, type Goals.
Because together, we must be the people who go after our dreams.
This is the fuel in my engine. It’s what drives me every single day.
Much love. Go after your goals.
G.x
